Sandworm

From Dune Awakening Wiki

Two players encounter a trimouth sandworm.

The Sandworm is a native inhabitant of Arrakis and one of the dangers players will encounter during their time on the planet. Sandworm's are attracted through vibrations caused by walking on the sand, or through the use of Imperial technology such as Holtzman Shields, or Lasguns.

The interactions between the worm and players are restricted. For example, a player can only avoid the worm, and lure it away with a Thumper; players are unable to ride the worm or kill it at this moment in time; it is unknown if this will be added at a later date,[1] but the developers have hinted that they would at least like to add riding of the sandworms to gameplay in the future.[2]

Description[edit | edit source]

The great sandworms of Dune roam the open desert and are sensitive to any rhythmic vibration, including footsteps. Seek the safety of rock islands and learn how to use a thumper to distract worms.

There are two different types of Sandworms that players will encounter during their gameplay of Dune: Awakening. The trimouth Sandworm is the smaller of the two worms and is most found in areas closer to land, whereas the ring-mouth worm is the larger of the two worms and is found in the deep desert. Both are deadly and capable of wiping a player and their base off the map.
