Construction

Construction is a primary component/mechanic of gameplay in Dune: Awakening, and is a highly customisable ability due to each piece being placed individually. Buildings that are constructed can be used for shelter, crafting, and refinement.

Players are reminded that they must build on solid foundations (such as rock), or they risk their buildings being destroyed by the Sandworm.

Mechanics[edit]

Basic Building[edit]

A player cannot just build or construct buildings where ever they like on Arrakis, they must first use a Solido Construction Projector to place a sub-fief console; this will allow the player to effectively claim a specific parcel of land on Arrakis, in which they will then become liable to pay taxes to the Emperor — failure to do so will cause the Sardaukar to target you.

A particular base that is built can be used by a single player, or in a group through the co-operative building system. If using the co-operative building system, it is not currently known how the mechanic of paying the imperial tax works; whether the cost is split evenly between all the players in the co-op, or if one player is eligible to pay the tax on behalf of the group.

Once a base has been constructed, the player may create a blueprint of the base, which can then be sold on the Exchange for other players to purchase so that they may replicate the build; it is not currently known whether a player can specify their own price for the blueprint, or if this is determined by the system.

Notes and Trivia[edit]

  • From the alpha footage that has been shown, building in Dune: Awakening is similar to building in Ark.
  • There are no 'build areas' in Dune: Awakening. It is presumed that this means that players can build wherever they choose.[1]
